Moffat County School District serves approximately 2100 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12, and is the only school district in Moffat County, which spans an area of 4,836 square miles. Weld Re- 8 is a district that believes education is a shared responsibility. Beginning with district-wide preschool, students find that Teachers, Administrators and Classified staff truly care about students. Weld Re-8 is a district that prides itself on meeting their students' social , emotional, and instructional needs so that they are either career or college ready depending on their needs. The district has a reputation for innovation and opportunity. The Public and School Library located in Fort Lupton High School, is just one example of a community that values education and works together to achieve the educational goals of the district.

Weld Re-8 is a rural district that is located conveniently away from the metro area by 25 short miles in either direction. Weld Re-8 services roughly 2,500 students and is recognized for excellence in such varied areas as programs in second language learning, technology and career technical education (CTE) (business, graphic design, technology, catering, engineering and marketing). A comprehensive athletics and activities program is available to all students. In addition, a planetarium is located in district facilities.

Teachers receive great opportunities such as Educator Recruitment and Retention programs.

Our district has a “state of the art” technology infrastructure. All classrooms are networked, with fiber optics between our buildings. Teachers are continuing to learn new ways to integrate technology and use it as a tool for instruction.

The moderate size of the district encourages personalized attention for students. Class size averages about 21 students per Teacher. Class size goals at the primary and elementary levels are 20-22, with middle school and high school class size goals at 25 students per class. Hands on learning, innovative instruction, developmentally appropriate curriculum and high expectations typify our schools.

Challenging district standards for our graduates in communications, social studies, science, math, vocational and applied technology education, visual and performing arts, computers and technology, foreign languages and health/physical education have been established with community and staff input. The development of standards, benchmarks and curriculum work plans have been supported by the purchase and implementation of materials that align with the standards.
